Dan - Always thinking, he's chock full of ideas.

Born and raised in the small town of Almonte, Ontario, Dan is a jokester at heart who always looks to find the humour in any situation, even at his own expense.

    A Modern Fairytale

The rumours are true. Against all odds, Dan and Erin met on the dating app Tinder. Just what were either of them doing on Tinder in the first place one might ask, but that is a question for another time...

From the very first few messages sent between the two on Tinder, both of them knew they might be in trouble as they were both saying all the right things. Before long they abandoned Tinder chat and moved to texting. From there plans were drawn up for a meeting of new friends for a drink. And from there, well the rest is history.

After that initial date of Caesars and nachos, Erin and Dan didn't go 3 days without seeing each other. They were indeed in trouble - just as they thought.

Less than a month after meeting each other, on a visit of Dan's hometown of Almonte, he asked Erin to be his girlfriend, and she said yes.

    The True Test

Two more hearts to win over.

A few months had passed and Dan knew that Erin was the right girl for him. In fact the two had professed their love for each other after a romantic night watching the light show on Parliament Hill. Both of them had been holding back the truth but on that night it came out.

With that out in the open, Dan knew it was time for Erin to meet the two most special people in his life. His boys Henry & Hudson. And so, Dan took the boys on an exciting trip to the Ottawa International Airport to watch some planes land and take-off, AND to meet a special friend of Daddy's.

It might have been her friendly smile and welcoming demeanour OR it might have been the fact that she gave them toy WestJet airplanes and boxes of Smarties OR maybe it was because she let the boys press the button to start the luggage conveyor belt but whatever it was, the boys loved Erin right away and welcomed her into their lives with open arms.

    Settling in

    A big move.

Nine months after they met Erin and Dan were making a big move. Well, more accurately, Erin was making a big move - moving in with Dan, Henry & Hudson in Kanata! The couple loaded Erin's entire life into the back of Dan's truck and off they drove to begin their life together not only as a couple but now as roommates. And with the exception of when Erin leaves a teabag in her mug in the sink, or when Dan leaves crumbs on the kitchen counter, they are the perfect living companions!

    She said YES!

    Without hesitation

Dan had many opportunities to pop the question. Christmas came and went. New Years Eve came and went. Erin's birthday came and went. Valentine's Day came and went. And as these dates passed by, Erin's ring finger remained bare. That's because Dan didn't want to do the obvious. He didn't want to do it on their upcoming trip to Punta Cana either. And so two days after Valentine's Day, on Thursday February 16th, 2017 on a magical skating trail through a forest in the Quebec countryside, in front of a tree that was decorated with paper lanterns and two paper hearts, Dan got down on one knee(and skate!) and asked Erin to be his wife. A surprised and excited Erin immediately said "YES!".
